Three-year Undergraduate Degree
The
program represents a new formula for higher education aimed at preparing
musicians who are highly trained in methods, disciplines and culture, and are
qualified to meet the demands of a changing professional world, in accordance
with European Standards. The three-year
undergraduate program is a prerequisite for admission to the two-year Masters
Program. Certain subjects studied during the undergraduate program (some
electives, and therefore highly recommended)
will be studied more profoundly during the Masters Program.
Basic courses include ear training, analysis of compositional forms,
music history, and choral formations.
Along with the study of guitar technique and repertoire for guitar and
orchestra, techniques and repertoire of contemporary music, techniques and
repertoire for guitar ensembles, history and technology of the instrument, and
repertoire for strings and its transcription for guitar are also required
subjects. Additional subjects include
acoustics, information technology for music, expressive techniques and body
awareness, as well as the study of a European language.
The program trains students for professional careers as soloists, in
chamber music groups, and in orchestras.

Two-year
Masters Program
The Masters Program produces
highly-trained musicians who possess a profound understanding of the techniques
and the repertoire of their instrument, as well as interpretational and
compositional skills, and know-how of new technologies as applied to
music. Today’s cultural and professional
panorama requires versatile musicians who are able to meet international
standards. Obligatory courses include technique and repertoire of the guitar,
vocal and instrumental chamber and ensemble music, and techniques and repertoire
of guitar for orchestra. Students must also choose a course between
transcription for guitar and critical review and fingering for guitar.

Jazz
Three-year Undergraduate Degree
The Jazz Department offers Undergraduate Courses in electric bass, jazz percussion and drums,
vocal jazz, jazz guitar, jazz double-bass, jazz piano, jazz saxophone, jaz
trombone, jazz trumpet and jazz
violin. Each course requires the
study of technique and repertoire with a faculty member who specializes in that
instrument (28 hours of individual lessons per academic year). The objective of
the course is the preparation of complete jazz musicians who are able to play competently
the music of the standard repertoire, to improvise as soloists and within the
context of a group, and to produce arrangements for small and large groups. To
this end, the student must attend courses involving jazz ensemble music,
improvisational techniques, and jazz composition techniques. Among the basic
courses (apart from those common to all the courses of study at the
Conservatory, i.e. ear training, music history and music theory) history of
jazz and piano for instrumental and vocal jazz accompaniment are required. Other studies include acoustics, computer techniques, body awareness
techniques, and one foreign European language, as well as filming and recording
techniques, contemporary music rhythms, advanced ear training, and orchestral
jazz.
The three-year Undergraduate Program prepares musicians
for careers as jazz soloists, instrumentalists in jazz groups and orchestras,
and composers and arrangers for jazz groups.
